When we started our businesses we were eager and excited about showing the world what we have to offer. For some business owners, this changes…sometimes due to lack of business, sometimes out of desperation, and sometimes due to listening to outsiders’ critiques. As a result, business owners spend multiple hours trying to do what everybody else is doing instead of setting a vision and creating a plan unique to what they are trying to do. Time after time I've seen people shift from their goals and values in order to copy what someone else is doing in order to make quick money. And time after time, I've watched them fail.
In order to move towards success in your business, there are a few things to remember.
Celebrate and promote the product or service that you offer. It’s time to stop being shy and embarrassed and speak boldly about what you offer. You chose this area for a reason, because this is your area of expertise. Don’t allow people, family or friends convince you that “nobody wants what you’re offering.” If you believe in it, don’t be afraid to promote it. Proudly and confidently, network. Don’t down play what you offer because you think someone else can do or create better. We are all individuals with unique voices and points of view. Embrace yours.
Embrace who you are, what you represent and how YOU want to present. Be true to who you are and follow your own path, even if it takes a little longer. We get caught up because social media platforms dictate to us how we must proceed in order to be seen. Coaches & Gurus tell us what we have to do (don’t come for me coaches…I know it’s not all of you.) in order to be relevant. Sometimes we just have to trust our own vision and path and proceed.
Stay focused on your vision and goals ~ Stay informed about trends your area of expertise ~ Continue to do research and gain knowledge ~ Do what makes sense for your business.
